How can I ensure that the guardian I select for my wife will have her best interests foremost?

I would ask for references from other families that have used this service. Don't just get one - it could be pro or con for any number of reasons. Ask for several. Also, check for complaints with the Better Business Bureau and perhaps your state. If you feel it's necessary, see an Elder Law Attorney for guidance.
