Mom in Nursing Home, how long to sell her home?

My Mom is in a Nursing Home and will very soon need to apply for Medicaid. In Pennsylvania, is there a specific amount of time given to sell her home? Or is it more a question of no longer having money available (when her Social Security goes down to $40./month) to maintain the home? Will I have any pressure from the Nursing Home or Medicaid to sell while she is alive? And while I'm on the subject, what about after she passes? Is there a limit on time there for any reason?

Going to the elder lawyer is the best thing he will or she will be able to tell you what to do the nursing home will get the money anyway if she gets on medicaide.

I'm sure someone else will mention the same thing, but I would talk to an 'elder lawyer' about the concerns you have. I am in Florida, and the rules are different.

Perhaps someone from PA will come online and be able to answer your questions, but in the meantime, I would look for a lawyer. It's better to be safe than sorry.

God Bless
