My mother was admitted to the hospital after suffering what seemed to be a stroke but was diagnosed as a severe migraine. She has multiple health problems including Parkinsons and an internally rotated hip replacement. When she was admitted she coud get out of bed, transfer by walker to wheelchair, and transfer again by walker to the toilet. Now I am being told by the Transitional Care Unit(ie sub-acute rehab) that she is going to be discharged as she is at baseline. When I asked if she could do the above items I was told "No. And she will require 24 hour care." When I asked how she was @ baseline when she was able to do these things before I was told that "she has been in here for 8 days and hasn't improved so this is her new baseline." Can someone help me out here? What options do I have?Thank you.
