I live in NY, and after the death of a hospice patient, the RN and I gathered up the meds, made a list of what was there, and she destroyed it while I acted as the witness and signed the paper that I saw it all destroyed. Liquids were flushed with plenty of water. Pills went into a Ziploc bag with alcohol and kitty litter and we watched them dissolve. I am not a CNA, just a person who witnessed the disposal.
