Does selling the home of the veteran after he is receiving Aid and Attendence benefits stop the benefits?

the veteran was still living in his home and having help come in when he started receiving the benefits for vets who need assisted living. He did not get all of the care he needed and had to move in with his daughter. His son wants to buy his house, but if he buys it and pays our dad the $55,000.00 selling cost, would that money affect his VA assisted living money?

Check with the VA. They could answer that question. Do you have a rep you were working with when he signed up for the benefits, or a number for the office you used? It's my understanding that it shouldn't change anything. My mother was getting VA benefits for 6 months when we sold her house. She didn't move, but I was told that the benefits are hers and will follow where she goes. If this site doesn't have info and you can't get an answer from the VA, check with aplaceformom they're the ones that told me about VA benefits in the first place. They can direct you to whom you need to speak to about this.

That question would come up during recertification. They would look at what he pays the daughter for living there vs what his income and savings are. He may not need the Aid & Attendance if he no longer has aides coming in.
