Is there a way I can stay home and take care of him?

My husband is 72 & has Parkinsons. I have to work just to get by. I am 70 and still working. My husband, besides Parkinsons, has heart problems. He is not able to drive or walk far. He falls down...sometimes losing his balance, tripping or passing out. I would like to be able to stay home as I worry about him when I'm at work. (Beside that, I am also tired!) Are there any benefits that would allow this?

Look under Money and Legal, top right hand side. Also, above that type "getting paid."

What state are you in? Have you explored options like a reverse mortgage? It isn't for everyone and I am guessing that money would go pretty quickly, anyway.

But, your question is a common one on here. No one ever comes back to say what they have found out, though. Good luck to you and your husband.

Our state will pay caregiver wages to family. You need to contact your Council on Aging, or Senior Social Services -- if you don't know who to call, call and ask your local police department for a phone number. I'm betting you can get paid. Your husband shouldn't be alone. God bless, MWinkel. Sometimes life is sooo hard. *hugs*
