I'm having trouble getting a state ID from Georgia. What do I do?

Georgia does not except her California drivers license without her birth cert, her marriage cert that changed her name and proof she's living here. Who knew that?!!!

I just had to get a copy of my parents wedding certificate from 62 years ago. Same process.. if you know the dates and location, call the county courthouse (find it on the web) and call. It may be free as it;s for an ID, otherwise the cost is minimal. Good luck!

You can get a copy from the state she was born in. Ancestry and other sites will do a search for free. Then you pay a fee for the actual certificate.

I recently moved my Mom to assisted living from Tucson to Denver. Mom wants to vote so I contacted the DMV about getting her an ID. I was told we had to have a photo ID with her middle name on it. Both her Arizona drivers license and her passport do NOT have her middle name on it. I haven't pursued it further yet, but it surprised me that the passport wouldn't be good enough.

How did she ever get a driver's license or social security card or just about anything else without a birth certificate? Most elderly people got a substitute birth certificate at sometime in their lives. You have to have people who knew the family when they were born or a family Bible listing will sometimes work.

Did she have a California ID of any sort? Seem like if you presented it to the authorities in GA, they would accept it.

Social Security card, Medicare card, passport? Affidavit from any older relatives (aunts, uncles, siblings)?
