I have a fiance who has a uncle (79) with MRDD. Any ideas?
We need a place that can provide full care. He can feed himself, but needs help bathing and assistance in going to his appointments. He is dependent of someone else.
Without doing a search, I don't know what MRDD is, so I'll just respond to the basic question. He is already in Assisted Living. Usually they have menus that you can choose levels of care from. In other words, he could have a bath aide that he would have to pay extra for, or a driver for his appointments. But it would increase his monthly rent accordingly. Talk to them at the facility and see what is available for him. IF, for some reason, they cannot provide this additional level of care, then search for a facility that can. Continuing care facilities are usually good at moving people along to the various levels of care.
