Is Mom eligible for Medicaid? If so, but you are waiting to see if she is going to need a care center, there are many advantages to arranging for it now. Medicaid covers a number of expenses for people who are still living in the community.
If she is not eligible for Medicaid, sometimes people donate these items to thrift shops. (I had a full case on hand when my husband died.) Maybe you can set up a list of places to call once a week to see if they have any on hand. Also call your local Goodwill/Salvation Army offices to see if they have any suggestions.
Personally, I think Medicare should cover this as a medical expense, but that is not the way it works.
