What are some ways to spend the money down so she doesn't lose Medicaid?
My Mother is in hospice, she is about to hit the $4000 cap in her checking account. Medicaid will stop paying. how can we spend the money? Medicaid stops paying for nursing home. Her house has been put in the kids name.
Joel - a couple of pairs of eyeglasses & hearings aids are good spend downs. If she needs any dental work done, that too is a good soend diwn & dental could easily cost 4K. If she doesn't have a preneed no cash value funeral & burial, 4k could go a lgood way into paying towards that as well.
You kinda need to get on this ASAP so that she ends the month once again Impoverished & within Medicaid income & asset limits.
Question for you.....About the house, did mom put her home in the kids names 5 years BEFORE she applied for Medicaid? Or did she do this after going onto Medicaid?
