Joycel, I hope you are discussing your symptoms and your concerns with your doctor. There may be other reasons for your forgetfulness and perhaps they can be treated. If you are beginning dementia the drugs available are most helpful in the earliest stages. The sooner you know for sure, the sooner you can get help!
As to how fast this might progress, that is impossible to say. Sometimes the early period advances very slowly. Sometimes it is rapid. And, of course, you may have something else entirely going on.
Really, I can't urge you strongly enough to see your doctor. If you don't have a regular doctor, see if you can find a geriatrician.
