How do I help my family relocate my mother (92) to a nursing home? Where to start?

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. My mother is now residing in an Assisted Living although her care needs are increasing daily. My siblings have been working through the VA assistance application process although that has been agonizingly slow. My sister is the POA and I am helping her puzzle through the process. I appreciate the advice to reach out to the Medicaid office for the state of Colorado. I feel better just having a plan of action! Thank you

Carleenhodges11, are you asking how to pay for a nursing home? If yes, see if your Mother can be approved for Medicaid as Medicaid will help with the cost for a love one to live in a nursing home. Call your State Medicaid office to get the ball rolling, if you plan for your Mother to relocate to your area. Each State has their own office, rules, regulations, and programs.

If you need to search for a nursing home, go to the upper right corner of this screen where you will see SEARCH SITE.... now type in the zip code for where you wish to place your Mom, and run a search. You should see a variety of nursing homes in and around your Mom's area.

Who is her POA and Health Care Proxy.... it is their responsibility.
