Over the past couple years my downs syndrome brother with AZ has been experiencing seizures. He is on medication (Tegretol) which has been increased as the seizures progress. Originally they were called drop seizures but I really don't know what they are called (there are so many different kinds). The doctor explained the brain is shrinking. They always occur at bed time between 12 and 2 AM. I follow the threads here and haven't seen this discussed.

He had 2 seizures on xmas night and again monday night. His Tegretol was increased wed and then again New Years Eve he had 3 more. I just thought it might be related to the alzheimers. Thanks so much for your thoughts.

My young niece has seizures, but, not due to AD or Down's. She had Tuberous Sclerosis Complex. She has almost daily seizures and they have experimented with her drug regimen for years. She still has recurring seizures.
Is he seeing a neurologist?
