Another way to search, go to the blue bar at the top of the page, click on the 3 white lines on your left.... you will see a SEARCH.... type in your zip code and up will pop different information as to what is available in your area. [do not use the SEARCH FORUM that is on the right side of the form on the Home page as it won't do zip codes]

All of the memory care facilities that I visited or where I placed mom are private pay and add in the high cost of living in California and it's a nightmare which is what I believe leads to a lot of nursing home placements

Have you reached out to your county agency on aging or a local senior center for referrals

I think the first thing you need to do is find out if your state Medicaid program pays for memory care, which is usually classified as a specialized Assisted Living facility. Not all states do. Go to your State Medicaid site and check out the information on long term care for the elderly.

Alternatively, go to the "Find Care And Housing" Tab on the site and search by zip code. I would start by calling facilities.
