Why do people talk to magazine photos?

My mom thought a baby doll was real and talked to her. It's very sad. We just let her talk, or would say something to get her talking to us instead. It's frustrating, hang in there!

I'm assuming you are talking about your loved one with dementia.

They could be talking to pictures because they are thinking out loud. Maybe they recognize people and/or places. Or maybe they are attracted to something they see.
