vhall, was going home your Mom's wish? Some times when an older person says they want to go home, they mean their childhood home. I assume that wouldn't be possible.
I know it wasn't for my own Mom because her late parents no longer owned the home. Thus, Mom being in long-term-care was the best choice for her as for her it took a village to help her daily. We can't be guilty of something we had no control over. And the best of intention wishes cannot always be granted.
With your Mom being a nursing home, chances are Hospice is visiting on a regular basis. For my Mom, the Hospice nurse or Aide or volunteer would drop in not on a scheduled visit but because they were in the building. It worked out quite well.
