The transition to wearing incontinence products does indeed come with challenges and resistance oftentimes. One of the very experienced CNAs at a Memory Care home where one of my clients lived suggested putting his regular cloth boxer underwear over the incontinence brief during the transition. It helped him to accept the change with a little less resistance. May be worth a try.
However, a few months later daytime incontinence briefs were also needed. At that point we had to totally remove and get rid of his cloth boxers in the dresser so that the only option left was to wear the incontinence briefs (or nothing 😳 which was sometimes the choice at the outset).
I realize every situation is unique and what works with one person does not always work with another. All the best to you as you deal with this challenging situation!
People here have occasionally recommended something that sounds like “long johns” but has the fasteners in the back. I’m not sure what they’re called, but they may be available on a medical supply site.
I bought pull-ups for nighttime. My mom did not have dementia. She has Parkinson’s disease. The sizing was according to their weight. The size chart was on the package.
