Its not so much the incontinence its the frequent UTIs. Thats why the Dr. recommended it. She chose not to do it and I think she was 80. My Aunt had it done last year and had problems.
In my opinion, I wouldn't put her thru it. Going under causes more problems with the Dementia. Add to that, it would be scary because she can't understand what is going on. My Mom got to the point she didn't want to be touched.
I would say no. The benefits don’t outweigh the risks IMO and she will still be incontinent after surgery right? Anesthesia isn’t good for people with dementia and it can actually make them worse.
