Mother in law that has been on hospice since March is crying almost constantly for weeks. Anyone have suggestion? I just want to scream!

Hospice is supposed to be about providing the best quality of life until the end of life, if your hospice providers are not on top of this you need to push them a little harder or find someone else 😠

A big part of Hospice is keeping the pt calm. That's why they usually use a pain med along with a benzodiazepene, such as Valium, Ativan or Klonipin. Dad would get so agitated, and I could apply an ointment of Valium on the thin skin of his inner forearms. It doesn't work quite a fast as a pill, but it worked well enough.

Should probably have a talk with the dr handling the Hospice, or the nurse..somebody to assess the meds and get them right.

Have you talked to her doctor? To a geriatric psychiatrist? To the hospice nurse or MD?

If they are not relieving her distress, get a different hospice organization.
