How to talk to my mother-in-law?

It seems like whenever I speak to her, I get "no no no no" or "I'm not a baby" with her hands clutching whatever it is I am trying to fix. She has had Parkinson's for almost 20 years and now diagnosed with dementia, which is getting so much worse. I say nothing to her when she starts that. Any suggestions?
