My friend is taking care of me after back surgery and two months in rehab.... under the program I am responsible for paying her. Advice?

My caregiver fills out a form and sends it in for my money repayment... however the caseworker refused my repayment stating she didn’t have anything on the form about bathing me... how can I not be repaid??

Who is paying you?

In the past, I was supposed to be paid by Medicaid for 10 hours a week take home was under $80 and paid for the clients good. Well, the case manager promised the world, so I submitted the timesheet on stuff I was required to do, meds, shopping, cooking, cleaning, laundry, finances, etc. I did not get paid, they called it "informal care" and said because I was an accountant not a health professional, i could not be paid. I told them to f-off. I would never suggest going thru a program.

So you are paying your Caregiver out of pocket and when she sends in the form you are to get reimbursement...from whom? Medicaid?your insurance policy?

I think you answered your own question...you were not repaid because bathing was not on the form. Whomever is reimbursing you must require that certain services have to be performed to get reimbursement. Does your Caregiver help you with bathing? If so, why did she not put bathing on the report? Can she resubmit the form? Were you paid before without bathing mentioned?

Unless one of our members has had the same problem, not sure if we can answer this. Insurance companies vary from State to State. Your question should be aimed at the Insurance company. If you don't like the caseworkers answer, then ask for a supervisor.

We wouldn't be able to answer what the problem is here; you will need to ask your caseworker what it is they require of you. Perhaps the discharge plan stipulates what your needs are, and bathing is part of it??? Good luck.
