Tell them he can not come back to your house. There is a reason he is an ex. Let the Social Workers work out where he will be living. He may need to be placed in a Psyhic facility to get him dried out and get him on the correct meds for his BiPolar and being an alcoholic can go hand in hand with BiPolar. My cousin says it helps to slow down her brain.
I also suggest you divorce him. You don't want to be held responsible for any of his care. Do not sign anything that says you will be responsible financially. Don't tell anyone u are legally married. He is ex. You really don't want to take on someone who has BiPolar. My cousin refuses to medicate and at 65 her husband is having lots of problems with her. For one thing she is nasty.
A doctor cannot 'place' a person in a nursing home unless it's for rehab on a temporary basis after a hospital stay. Is that what you are referring to?
