Is there any chance the Dr. will give something to sedate my elderly dementia mom so I can trim her finger and toe nails? She’s violent.

She picks her nose constantly and get blood everywhere! This can’t be good on her nose ! And her toe nails are starting to curl and are white and brittle ! I’ve been putting tea tree oil daily and that’s helping but she desperately needs trimming ! And D’s , nurses out there , is sedation a possibility like once a month? 💚🙏💚

I would definitely get something to give her that will calm her for the hour or so you have to work on her nails.

Be sure to soak them well and scrub them well before you begin. Use the sharpest clippers you can get.

If she becomes violent towards you for doing her nails, then a podiatrist wouldn't have a better outcome--and if she were sedated, you may not be able to get her to go to a Drs office.

Yes medicare should be paying for the podiatrist. Also, you do not want to make a mistake and cut her. She may also sit still for a doctor.

Yes, Medicare pays for nail trimming every 10 weeks. I took my Mom regularly and when she was in AL, he came to her. Nails, they need to be done by you.

I agree, if Mom is aggressive there are meds to help with that.

Medicare pays for regular nail trimming by a Podiatrist. Trying to do such a thing yourself is dangerous, truthfully. Call your mom's PCP to discuss calming meds in general bc she nor you should be dealing with violence, aggression or any such thing! Ask for the help you need to properly care for your mother now!

I would make an appointment with the doc now for telemed or for office to discuss.
